Horsehair, Ferric Chloride Round shape w/"steer horn" lid

Horsehair pottery is created by laying real horsehair (or feathers) on a clay pot that has been heated to 1600^o F. 

The organic materials leave a carbon mark.  Pieces with mica infused terra sigillata interact with the burning process to create a beautiful colored halo. 

Other pieces are finished with an overcoating of ferric chloride to give an orange to brown glow.  This piece is a FERRIC CHLORIDE finish.
